This September, I’m riding 125 miles for children who should be thinking about school, friendships and what they want to be when they grow up, not chemotherapy, hospital stays and whether their treatment will work.

Childhood cancer changes everything for a family. No child should have to endure it, and no parent should have to hear that their child’s treatment options are limited.

That is why I’m taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge again this year. Every dollar raised will support vital childhood cancer research and help researchers work toward safer treatments, better outcomes and, ultimately, cures.

My reasons for riding are deeply personal. I ride in memory of Ruby and my dad, whose lives were taken far too soon. I ride for our dear friend John. Their courage and the love I carry for them will push me through every mile.

But this challenge is bigger than my own story.

I’m riding for every child currently facing cancer. For the children who have missed birthdays, school days and ordinary moments because they were receiving treatment. For the families desperately hoping that the next breakthrough will arrive in time.

My fundraising goal is $500, but I would love to go far beyond it this year. A donation of any amount will help move childhood cancer research forward. When many people give what they can, even small donations become something powerful.
