My journey with the Great Cycle Challenge USA began in 2020, and since then I have logged miles and raised funds in both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. This year, after finishing my Bachelor's in Sociology from UMass Amherst (at the age of 46 and as a first-generation college graduate) I picked up and moved all the way to BEAUTIFUL San Diego, California! This is my first year riding on the West Coast, and I hope it will be the first of many!!!

The GCC, for those who are not familiar, is one of the largest cycle challenges in the U.S. In its 11 years, it has raised over $79 million, and these funds have directly contributed to the life-saving work of top facilities like the Dana-Farber Institute and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Despite this, cancer remains the #1 killer of children from disease in the United States. Every year, over 15,700 children are diagnosed. Even more alarming is that each week 38 children die from this horrific disease.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it!

During the last 7 years, the GCC has become a meaningful and appreciated part of my life. I am grateful to be able to combine my love of cycling with a charity that addresses such an important and heartfelt issue as kids' cancer.

As such, I have committed to riding at least 500 miles and raising a minimum of $2500! It will be my largest year to date but I want to GO BIG for my first year in California and really help improve the odds for these young boys and girls.
