I'm Riding For
Thomas Rouse
This year I am riding in honor of all of the kids in the fight and for my dear friend, Thomas Rouse. He was diagnosed in April 2024 with angiosarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. He courageously fought this terrible disease and won the victory when Jesus welcomed him to his eternal home on September 6. I am proud to ride in honor of him and all of the kids.
My Story
I am excited to ride again in the Great Cycle Challenge! This is my eighth year participating, and I look forward to riding again to help in the fight against children’s cancer!
Cancer has impacted many of my friends and family and is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
Funds raised through my challenge support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

17 Sep 2026I had another indoor trainer ride today and added another 10 miles. I am pedaling and thinking of all the kids who are fighting for their lives instead of living it. I am sure they would trade their pokes and pain for pedals! Keep the support coming! I appreciate every donation and prayer! 🚴♀️🤗❤️

16 Sep 2026Today was another busy day, but I still added another 8 miles. The temperatures have improved but my schedule hasn’t worked to get out on the road yet. Hopefully later this week. We did get to enjoy releasing other 31 monarchs today! 🧡🖤

15 Sep 2026Today marks two weeks since the start of the GCC! Whew! It was a busy day from start to finish. The high temps and my schedule had me back on the trainer tonight for another 13 miles. I’m pedaling away the miles one ride at a time! 🚴♀️🙏🚴♀️
One of the blessings of the day was releasing 32 monarchs! My friend, Kelly, who has supported me and shared many GCC miles ,introduced me to this hobby several years ago. I’m thankful she could share in the fun! These butterflies will be flying to Mexico to overwinter there until next spring. Just like the kids fighting cancer, they are gentle and fragile but show incredible strength! 🧡 Thank you for all of your support! Let’s see how far we can go! 🙏🚴♀️🙌🧡

12 Sep 2026Today was another bittersweet day. We attended the funeral service for fellow Big Wheel Cyclist, Ron Gray. He was such a kind and joyful person. He was always a big supporter and encourager of my GCC each year. We have shared many miles together over the years. So today I rode in my Big Wheel jersey in honor of him. He will surely be missed. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers. 🙏
