The final day of September is here, and it’s a soggy, rainy one — definitely not biking weather. Luckily, I was able to finish my miles earlier this week in the beautiful Traverse City area, riding the old railway bike paths and biking 28 miles from Suttons Bay with Andy and my longtime friend Tony, stopping at five wineries along the way. A perfect ending to a challenging month.

Back home, Andy — calling himself “Hincapie” — coached me through every ride the weather allowed. Thanks to that, and thanks to all of you who supported me, fundraising has gone so well. I’m still short of my goal, though, and there’s still time to help kids fighting cancer get the brighter futures they deserve.

To everyone who has already donated: thank you for your continued support. I’ll be back at it next year, and I’m grateful to have you with me.

Day 1 - hot.muggy 90° with 60% humidity. Went out around 6:45 just around neighborhood to get some miles in on day 1. Slow start!

Day 8 - I'm 19 miles behind schedule. Thought I'd make up today but wind gusts are 22 mph and I rode 10 miles alone. I don't like riding alone. I'm sure kids don't like having cancer either.

Day 10- so overwhelmed with the donations yesterday! Grateful everyone is coming through on this ride with me. Today went to post office to mail some baby overalls I knitted and to pick up some cat beds at the shelter. Next ride this afternoon to Trader Joes.
